About This Dorkshop: 

This DT Dorkshop will be lead by Parsons MFA Design + Technology students Zach Gage, Nick Hardeman, and Steve Varga. openFrameworks is a powerful open source toolkit built on C++ aimed at creative coding. The workshop will cover the beginner's basics of the openFrameworks setup, as well as various advanced topics by interest. All skill levels are encouraged to attend, and break out sessions with instructors will be tailored to suit various skill levels.

Workshop will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break.

Instructors will cover topics such as:

  • Intro to openFrameworks
  • Set-up and File structures
  • Compiling and C++ basics
  • Graphics and Image Processing
  • (advanced users) openFrameworks on the iPhone / iPad


  • Bring your own labtop with oF installed. Download from the openFrameworks site
  • Install Xcode for Mac or Code Blocks for Windows
  • Advanced users: Already versed in oF and ready to use it for developing on the iPhone/iPad? Download the iPhone SDK, and apply for and activate an iPhone developer account. Bring your development-registered iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad!

Dorkshops are free. No experience necessary.
